Junior School

Welcome

Welcome to our exceptional Junior School.

I am delighted that your family is considering joining the wonderful community here at Akeley’s Wicken Park campus, home to our happy and vibrant Junior School and Nursery. We have an idyllic rural setting where we have developed a leading Forest School provision, enviable sporting facilities and space to focus on play, exploration and discovery.

We are a forward-thinking independent school with a pioneering approach to teaching and learning, where we are always seeking ways to improve the children’s experience and attainment. We focus on developing the whole child. We champion the mastery approach to learning: ensuring every child achieves a deep understanding of all objectives. Deliberately small class sizes ensure our teachers can give each child the time and attention they need to develop at their own pace and achieve their full potential.

Please do not hesitate to contact me or admissions should you wish to find out more.

Specialist subject teachers.

Our Junior School pupils are taught by specialist teachers in Art, Music, PE, Computing, Modern Foreign languages (MFL) and Cooking and Nutrition in a broad and varied curriculum. We encourage active participation, independent learning and collaboration, with the aim to intrigue, inspire and develop pupils with a life-long love of learning. We focus on the individual and understand that each child will take a different learning journey.

A wealth of extra-curricular opportunities.

Outside the timetable we offer a dazzling range of extra-curricular clubs to inspire our children from Yoga to Creative Writing, Street Dance to Coding. We aim to give them the opportunity to express themselves in new ways, find their passions and grow in confidence. Many sports clubs and musical clubs make up our offering, as well as the more unique options. There is something for everyone here.

A nurturing environment with space to grow.

Wicken Park is a stunning Georgian Mansion set in far-reaching grounds surrounded on every side by fields and woods. Our children benefit from acres of space in which to learn and play, providing the ideal setting to make new discoveries every day and grow together. We have a beautiful Forest School, a dedicated Reception space, an Astro-turf pitch, many grass pitches and a spacious sports hall. We welcome parents as often as we can to enjoy our glorious setting.

We are a forward-thinking independent school with a pioneering approach to teaching and learning.
