Creative and Performing Arts at Akeley Wood thrives in an environment where self-expression is nurtured, and students collaborate on creative journeys in disciplines including Art, Music, Performance or Textiles.
With the ability to specialise and focus on specific areas of interest within each individual discipline, such as photography, music technology and textile art, students are able to fine tune their own individual talents and passions, with the help of a dedicated team of teachers and fantastic facilities.

Art.
The Art Department sets out to develop our students’ passion for thinking imaginatively and realising their ideas through creation. We pride ourselves in providing a learning environment which fosters problem solving, risk taking, self-expression and ‘happy accidents’.
Through our carefully designed schemes of work that allow students to succeed and develop confidence in their skills, they are introduced to experimental mark making, printing and clay work. The experience becomes more tailored to each student as they progress through GCSE and A level when students will create their own projects and the Art teachers, who between them have a wide range of skills, facilitate and support their work.
