Prepare for success at A Level and University with AWS's Pre-A Level course
The Pre-A Level course is for students who don’t yet meet the entry requirements of our A level programme. If you haven’t completed GCSEs (UK exams taken at 16 years old), need to develop your fluency in English and/or your study skills, this is the course for you.
Successful students will graduate with an IELTS for UKVI English language qualification, a GCSE in Maths and a Level 2 Extended Project Qualification (EPQ). More importantly, you’ll be ready for success on Akeley Wood School’s exciting A level programme.

Course information
The course runs for one academic year, where you will start in September and graduate in the July.
The programme is led by Mr Houghton-Brown, our dedicated EAL Teacher, who has many years experience supporting our international students' progress and wellbeing.
The course is taught at our Akeley Wood House campus - which combines beautiful historic buildings with purpose-built contemporary facilities, artfully constructed to maintain the character of the stunning site.

Key Information
If you don’t live with your parents, we can place you with a local family. You will have your own bedroom, enjoy homecooked meals, improve your English skills more quickly and develop the cultural knowledge to support your university applications.
Akeley Wood School’s parent company, Cognita Schools Ltd can sponsor you on a Child Student or Student visa.
Once you have registered, you will be interviewed (online) by Mr Houghton-Brown
£18,665 (includes lunch but exclusive of transport). International students are asked to pay a refundable deposit equal to one term’s fee (plus the academic year’s fees in full prior to visa sponsorship).
After completing their A levels at Akeley Wood School students have progressed to Oxbridge and prestigious Russell Group universities, including Loughborough, York and Warwick.
