Akeley Wood School is a vibrant, co-educational day school for children aged 1 to 18, set across three beautiful campuses in Buckinghamshire and Northamptonshire.

Children are invited to explore our classroom and outdoor spaces through play-based activities, giving them the freedom to discover, create and begin to feel at home. It’s a wonderful opportunity to see how quickly confidence grows as curiosity takes the lead and new friendships begin to form.
At the same time, parents can spend time with our experienced team, ask questions and gain a clear understanding of the Reception journey — from those first days in school through to becoming confident, independent learners.
These sessions are designed to be gentle and informal, offering a feel for a typical day and the nurturing environment that underpins what we call genius and joy.

Easter at Akeley Wood Junior School was a wonderful celebration of creativity, community and childhood joy.
From the incredible entries in our Great Akeley Easter Bake Off — where pupils from Reception to Year 6 amazed us with their imagination and effort — to the now much-loved Easter Bonnet Parade, there was a real sense of fun and pride across the school.
The festivities continued with a fantastic Easter Egg Hunt, complete with bouncy castles, sport and even a special visit from the Easter Bunny.
A huge thank you to our Friends of Akeley Wood School for creating such a memorable event, and to our families for the support (and no doubt a few chocolate-covered kitchens along the way).
Moments like these capture what makes our Junior School so special, a community where children are encouraged to take part, be creative and enjoy every step of their journey.

A week on from our Junior School Awards Ceremony, it’s still a moment we’re reflecting on with great pride.
As Mrs Hunter, Head of Junior School, shared, these celebrations are a true highlight of the year — recognising not only academic achievement, but success across Forest School, Cookery, Sport, Design Technology and our Akeley Values.
It’s an opportunity to celebrate the whole child, where every pupil has the chance to be recognised and to feel proud of what they have achieved.
Watching pupils step onto the stage, realising their moment has arrived, is something quite special — a moment of confidence, joy and well-earned recognition that stays with them long after the applause.

What a Friday afternoon in the Music Department!
Last week we welcomed the brilliant team from On the Decks — a local Buckingham business — to run a hands-on DJ and music technology workshop with our students. From beat-making to live mixing, they got stuck in with real equipment guided by professionals.
We were also delighted to welcome Callum Anderson, MP for Buckingham and Bletchley, who came to see the session in action and show his support for creative education in local schools.
This is what we mean when we say we bring the world into the classroom. Huge thanks to On the Decks and to Callum for making it such a special afternoon.
